Witch Hats - Hear Martin
It’s been forever since these guys released anything, but in that downtime they seem to have found a concise confidence that sets this new jam apart from the noisier, nastier that preceded it.
He may be stealing names from The Boss, but one-man orchestral pop dreamboat Wintercoats can afford to when he’s creating such gorgeous music. Now he’s paired it with some fittingly pretty visuals for this instrumental. It’s the lead single from his Sketches EP, which is out in November on Mistletone (Aus) and Cascine (US). Good pilates music.
Two songs from Kitchen’s Floor’s live performance on Radiant. This video contains “Orbit” and “Lander”.
The full set in audio format can be downloaded here.
A part of Angel Eyes’ gorgeous set at Totally Autumn, back in April.
Making, live last night at about 2am. Super loud, super good.
Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders - Cold Feet
Another album, another new sound. Hoping the album has a bit more of the abrasive, fucked up Kirin J. Callinan influence that his live show has had, but i’m enjoying this a lot nonetheless. Nice film clip, too.
Here’s a full performance from past Radiant guest None Music at Summer Vibes last weekend.
Post has 2 notes.

Halal, How Are You: Live on Radiant (August 30, 2010)
This week’s performance was about more, more, more. No corners cut. Nothing held back.
Halal, How Are You? brought their entire setup into the studio - drums, amps, everything. And they performed their debut EP in the studio, in full.
For the past couple of years, Halal, How Are You? have practically forced audiences to become fans with wild live shows and a wonderful take on rock ‘n’ roll. To me, their strength has always rested on the contrast between Zacc’s wild antics and Tom Waits/death metal-inspired vocals, and the succinct, upbeat pop-rock of his bandmates.
So on the eve of their debut EP launch, it was awesome to finally get them in the studio. As well as performing their EP, they had a chat between sides (in the vinyl sense), in a great discussion that included suburban angst, playing after a strip show, and the suburban punk origins of some Sydney indie faves. Lots and lots of fun. Check it out on the podcast.
I also experimented with filming it on my phone. Just for fun. Results aren’t great (mixing while filming isn’t a great idea), but well worth putting up. The camerawork gets a lot better a minute or two in. Part one, the A-side of the EP, is up now. Part two is forthcoming.
