Hey all,
Three weeks worth of shows here, with both performances from the most recent show (Monday 28th). We’ve had some incredible live music happening in the studio, so enjoy!
And be sure to listen in on Monday - it’s the 50th show, and I have NZ’s Tiny Ruins playing live.
Feb 14: Valentine’s Day featuring The Maladies & Michael Crafter
Being a valentine’s day, I thought i’d get tremendous Sydney group The Maladies in to play some sugary sweet covers. But then I remembered that lots of us are single, and some are even bitter, so I brought in powerviolence duo Michael Crafter to stop things from getting too cute. Two extremes. Enjoy.
Feb 21: Charge Group
It’s been a while since we last heard from Charge Group, but with a new album and tour on the way there’s plenty to look forward to. Which is just as well - I was starting to miss their slow-burning, violin-laced indie. We got a preview of their return on Radiant when the guys came into the studio for a chat and some songs.
Feb 28: Kitchen’s Floor
A couple of months ago Kitchen’s Floor came into the second FBi studio on a Saturday morning and smashed out an awesome 10 song set. With a new lineup that included Liam of Bitch Prefect/Dud Pills/Peak Twins, Joe of Slug Guts and Per Purpose and Andrew aka Cured Pink on keyboards, it’s a great preview of their upcoming record.
Feb 28: Rebuilding the Rights of Statues
Rebuilding The Rights Of Statues (aka Re-TROS) are a great Chinese band who came to Australia supporting their heroes Gang of Four. I was lucky enough to have them in the studio for an interview and a live song, which was played using an unusual arrangement for the typically guitar-driven group - a loop, keys, tambourine and vocals. The result was great, as was the interview - a great insight into the Chinese indie scene.
